I got this dress from a boutique in L.A. last year. I was crazy about the crispy summer white, and the flowy silhouette. Problem was that the hemline barely made the modesty line, and it shrank after each time I washed it. This dress literally turned to a top. Besides wearing it as a cover up when I go swimming, it’s just been sitting in my closet for almost a year now.
I tried to layer with other stuff, but nothing looks right with it. Until, I got that cute brown belt from Banana Republic, I think I can actually make it work now .
dress: Ryu:
skirt: thrift store
shoes: CIRCA Joan & David
Belt: Banana Republic
What do you guys think? Does this outfit work? I still feel it’s a little weird somewhere. At least, I can wear this dress top again, hehe…
(My husband hates taking photos. I have to beg him for hours, and he just takes one picture, and turn away. I had to drag him back to take more. I need to get one of those remote thing for my camera, it will help indeed.)

Hi there! I think it works perfect! Good job!
Maybe another option is to pair this white "dress/top" with a pair of wide leg jeans and platform sandals? You can use the belt at a lower level near the hip bones and then pull out the top a bit to make it even shorter in length. You can even try to layer it with a vest or something. And during winter, you can try to have a fitted turtle neck underneath the white top (maybe turtle neck in lilac or light blush/pink). Hehe..just brainstorming here....:P
Nice top/dress by the way!
I think it works! I think it would also look great with skinny jeans. You have the perfect little figure for that combo. If you still aren't sure, you could always take it to be altered and make it shorter so it hits more at hip length to make it truly a shirt.
I agree though, the details of the dress/top are irresistable!
I love it! I think it would also look good with wide-leg brown pants, if you're going for a more formal look, or wide-leg jeans if you want something more casual. It might also look good with an ankle-length brown skirt.
I think it works but I agree with everyone else that it would look great with that belt and a pair of jeans. A slouchy cardigan or vest would be great with it too!
The belt totally makes the outfit. I love it!
Thank you guys for all the input! I'm definitely going to try the wide leg pants(i don't have wide leg jeans, but do have a pair white wide leg pants) look, with a vest or something. I think it look pretty good. I'll take a picture and show you guys.
I have tried it skinny jeans, but it just didn't look right. Maybe it look better with this belt, we'll see.
I think it needs to go with leggings. It's a cute top.
